Common types of topical antibiotic treatment include Arestin®, PerioChip®, Actisite®, Atridox®, and Elyzol®.
Oral antibiotics are not recommended as frequently as topical treatments, but this option is available if you and your dentist determine that this type of treatment is better suited to your needs. Oral antibiotics tend to affect the entire body. Some oral antibiotics that may be recommended include tetracycline, macrolide, and metronidazole antibiotics.
